Carter-Smith Post 5867

In honor of Howard Carter & Rowland Smith, both from Lakeside, CA and U.S. Navy, were killed in action on USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

Commander's Update: 

WHATS HAPPENING AT OUR POST:
March and April Breakfasts and Suppers both were huge successes. Thanks to all who attended and those who helped out. We are currently doing Friday Dinners 5-8pm (varying menu), Saturday 11-2 Burgers and Sunday 9-11 Breakfasts: (we will provide times for events listed)

Weekend #1: Omelets, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Potatoes.
Weekend #2: Steak, Ham Steak, Biscuits & Gravy, Potatoes, Eggs to Order, Toast.
Weekend #3: Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Ham, Corned Beef Hash, Biscuits & Gravy, Potatoes, Eggs to Order.
Weekend #4: Chicken Fried Steak, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Potatoes, Eggs to Order, fruit.
Weekend #5: Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Ham, Corned Beef Hash, Biscuits & Gravy, Potatoes, Eggs to Order.

Karaoke!!!
Thirsty Thursday karaoke starts at 7pm! Get your groove on; you could be the next Lakeside Idol! If Thursday isn’t enough for ya’ll, we play it again on Friday starting at 8pm. These have quickly become our busiest “nightlife” nights with lots of new members trickling in.

Post Nominations and Elections: We held our elections at the April meeting and the following are your officers for the year 2013/2014: Paul Boston, Commander; Jason Basden, Senior Vice Commander; Joshua Erickson, Jr. Vice Commander; John Borchardt, Quartermaster; Ed Spring, Chaplain; Ron Bonnin, Judge Advocate; Surgeon, Victor Graverson and Service Officer, Anna Sanchez. Congratulations to the newly elected officers and good luck.

Poppy Drive: Our Post Poppy Drive is in full swing! We need everyone’s participation to make this a success! If you would like to volunteer to coordinate a local Poppy Drive, please let me know. The Post is selling Buddy Poppy Boards for $5 and Memorial Boards for $10. See any Bartender or Post Officer/Auxiliary Officer for purchase.

If you did not get this newsletter by e-mail then we do not have your e-mail address. We are trying to compile as complete a list as possible of all members who have e-mail address so we can send distribute the monthly newsletter and other information in a more efficient, expeditious and cost effective manner.

• Lakeside VFW Ladies Auxiliary monthly meetings: 6:30pm the second Wednesday of each month
• Lakeside VFW Ladies Auxiliary are serving dinners at the Post 5pm on the First and Third Fridays of each month $7- help needed or support us – come have dinner!
